The Tor Project’s Tor Browser 14.0 update enhances privacy and security, adding Firefox ESR 128 support, extended compatibility for older systems, and new features for Android users to control their anonymity.

The Tor Project recently released Tor Browser 14.0, introducing several upgrades aimed at enhancing privacy, compatibility, and usability. A key change is the integration of Firefox’s latest Extended Support Release (ESR) 128, which provides improved security and performance, alongside updates to core components like OpenSSL. This version also offers extended support for legacy Windows and macOS versions, ensuring that users on older systems can still benefit from secure browsing.

For Android users, the update introduces the ability to manually request new circuits, further enhancing control over privacy and anonymity options on mobile. Tor Browser 14.0 addresses multiple security vulnerabilities and disables certain automatic features, such as HTTPS-First exceptions, to minimize potential tracking risks. Users are encouraged to update promptly to take advantage of these improvements. Additionally, all donations to the Tor Project until December 31 will be matched, supporting the project’s ongoing commitment to online privacy.
