Ubiquiti UniFi Network 11 adds WiFi Uplink, Live Flows, and Matter

Ubiquiti has rolled out UniFi Network 11 (version 11.0.83), a major platform update that introduces wireless WAN failover, real-time flow termination, Matter over Thread device monitoring, and a backend migration to PostgreSQL.

Released in October 2026 for gateways running UniFi OS 6.0 or newer, the update overhauls underlying controller architecture while expanding both consumer and enterprise feature sets. According to Ubiquiti's release notes, migrating the application database to PostgreSQL and introducing a new telemetry engine boosts device and client scalability by up to 30 percent on hardware such as the UCG-Fiber and UDM-Pro. Because of the database transition, the upgrade takes up to 20 minutes and clears existing historical statistics to rebuild metrics from scratch. UniFi Network 11 also marks the end of life for legacy UniFi Security Gateway (USG) hardware and the standalone Network Application Server, leaving UniFi Network 10.6 as the final supported release for USG deployments.

WiFi Uplink and Matter over Thread support

For residential and small-office deployments, the standout addition in UniFi Network 11 is WiFi Uplink. Requiring UniFi OS 6.0.10 or newer, the feature allows gateways with integrated Wi-Fi 7 radios—specifically the Dream Router 7 (UDR-7), Dream Router 5G Max (UDR-5G-Max), UniFi Express 7 (UX7), and Cloud Gateway Industrial (UCG-Industrial)—to connect to an external wireless network or smartphone hotspot as a primary or failover WAN link. As Dong Knows Tech reported, WiFi Uplink functions as a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) mode that isolates local LAN clients from the upstream Wi-Fi network while supporting captive portal logins.

The update also integrates Matter and Thread visibility directly into the controller interface. Administrators running UniFi OS Gateway 6.0.10 with IPv6 and mDNS enabled on the Thread Border Router subnet can commission Matter over Thread IoT devices and monitor their connectivity status from the main dashboard without relying on separate smart home hubs.

Live Flows, External Lists, and firewall migration

On non-Wi-Fi gateways—including the UDM-Pro, UDM-SE, UDM-Pro-Max, UDW, EFG, UCG-Fiber, UCG-Max, and UXG series—UniFi Network 11 adds Live Flows. Administrators can inspect active network sessions in real time, filter traffic by application or allowing firewall policy, and terminate individual connections on demand. The update pairs this visibility with External Network Lists, enabling automated imports of third-party IP and domain blocklists, alongside SD-WAN spoke routing policies based on packet loss, latency, and jitter thresholds.

Administrators planning to install version 11.0.83 should back up configurations before upgrading. All sites are automatically migrated to Ubiquiti's Zone-Based Firewall architecture during installation, prompting early adopters with complex inter-VLAN rules or secondary third-party routers to verify routing permissions immediately after the update completes.
