Vodafone deploys Cujo AI software on European Wi-Fi 7 routers

Vodafone is deploying network intelligence software from Cujo AI across millions of its Wi-Fi 7 home broadband gateways in the UK and mainland Europe to measure application-level connection quality alongside raw bandwidth.

Announced by Vodafone on October 6, 2026, and detailed by GB News on October 23, 2026, the rollout makes the telecom group the first European operator to implement the Quality of Outcome (QoO) framework at scale across a live residential network. Co-created by Cujo AI and developed through the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) IP Performance Measurement Working Group, QoO evaluates how local and wide-area network conditions affect real-time tasks rather than relying strictly on peak throughput figures.

The router-resident software tracks latency, packet loss, and throughput in the background to calculate a 0% to 100% performance score for individual application categories, including video conferencing, cloud gaming, and streaming. According to Vodafone, the telemetry helps engineers isolate packet delivery bottlenecks—such as wireless degradation when a client device roams between rooms—even when headline line speeds test normally. Vodafone said the software operates without inspecting data packet payloads or collecting personal subscriber data.

"Delivering an excellent broadband experience requires us to look beyond headline speeds and understand how the network performs for the applications our customers use every day," said Oscar Gallego, Director of Home Technology & Products at Vodafone. "Working with CUJO AI, we are bringing Quality of Outcome to millions of Vodafone home broadband hubs connected to our pan-European network."

Before beginning the wider European deployment on its Wi-Fi 7 Home Hub hardware, Vodafone tested the QoO framework over Low Latency DOCSIS connections to measure how access-network adjustments improved latency-sensitive traffic. Cujo AI CEO Remko Vos said the multi-market deployment turns outcome-based network measurement into an operational tool at scale. According to Fierce Network, Cujo AI software already runs on residential gateways across 63 million homes worldwide.

In the UK, Vodafone delivers fixed-line service over the Openreach full-fiber network, which passed more than 23.8 million premises by October 2026 ahead of a 25-million target by the end of 2026, GB News reported. While Vodafone is testing 8Gbps symmetrical download tiers over those fiber lines, embedding Cujo AI telemetry directly on its Wi-Fi 7 gateways shifts ongoing network optimization toward packet stability and in-home wireless delivery across its European footprint.
