D-Link launches DPN-BE7212GR dual-10G Wi-Fi 7 mesh router

D-Link has released the DPN-BE7212GR, a dual-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh router equipped with dual 10GbE ports designed to handle multi-gigabit fiber broadband across Australia and New Zealand.

The release targets a growing bandwidth disparity in Australasia, where consumer fiber tiers frequently outstrip standard home networking gear. In Australia, National Broadband Network fiber connections reach up to 2 Gbps, while New Zealand providers deliver Hyperfibre speeds reaching 8 Gbps over Chorus infrastructure. Typical residential routers with 1GbE or 2.5GbE ports throttle these connections before traffic reaches local clients.

“For years, the broadband connection was the bottleneck in most homes,” Graeme Reardon, Managing Director of D-Link A/NZ, said in a press release reported by The AU Review. “With NBN now scaling to 2 Gbps and NZ homes already past that on Hyperfibre, the bottleneck has moved to the router on the shelf. The DPN-BE7212GR is built to remove it: 10 Gigabit in, 10 Gigabit out and Wi-Fi 7 that grows with the home, room by room.”

Wired Interfaces and Processing Hardware

To eliminate port-side choke points, the DPN-BE7212GR provides a dedicated 10GbE WAN port alongside a dedicated 10GbE LAN port. The 10GbE LAN connection allows high-throughput local hardware, such as network-attached storage units or multi-gigabit workstation switches, to transfer data at line rate. For legacy wired gear, the rear panel includes four standard 1GbE LAN ports and a single USB 3.0 port for external media sharing.

Internal processing relies on a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor paired with 512MB of DDR4 RAM. RF duties run through nine integrated 3 dBi antennas arranged inside the chassis to deliver omnidirectional coverage.

Wireless Throughput and Mesh Capabilities

On the radio side, the router operates as a BE7200 dual-band unit utilizing 4096-QAM modulation, OFDMA, and 4×4 MU-MIMO arrays across both operating bands. The DPN-BE7212GR delivers theoretical link rates up to 1,376 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and up to 5,764 Mbps on the 5 GHz band. Because the platform incorporates Wi-Fi 7 Multi-Link Operation, compatible client devices can transmit data simultaneously across the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to lower latency and bypass local interference.

For larger deployments, the hardware implements the Wi-Fi Alliance EasyMesh standard. Users can link multiple units over wireless mesh or connect them through a 10GbE wired Ethernet backhaul, preserving full 10-gigabit throughput across nodes in multi-story installations.

Software features include router-level VPN client support, WPA3 encryption, guest network isolation, and parental controls accessible through the D-Link Wi-Fi Assist mobile app. D-Link also added TR-069 and TR-181 protocol support, enabling internet service providers to deploy and configure the router with zero-touch remote management.
